Hello, and as we head into summer I’d like to jump on the Blues Society band wagons, and blues
venue clubs. You know we all like to gig, and get as much stage time as we can. What we all need to
do as blues enthusiasts is to get active and support our local blues societies. It is not okay to give
lip service to blues, and then ignore the folks and associations that spend a lot of labor of love for our
art form. Publications, blues societies, and associations are entities established to perpetuate,
proclaim and propagate the continued interest in the American Musical Art Form – The Blues. What
goes around comes around, and you got to put something into something to get something out of it.
Don’t be so damn cheap, and drop down ten bucks to join and support your local blues society.
Enough said, and I want to give you some Blues from Arkansas Below. Keep on jammin’ them blues,
as it is music to my ears. God Bless, and hang in there Cuz; Mike Dollins. mike@mikedollins.biz

Arkansas’ newest music venue opens this month in Hot Springs. Odie’s House of
Blues, 3413 Central Avenue, will open this month and will feature a full menu and
some of the best blues music in the area.
Odie’s House of Blues is located in the old Western Sizzlin building which was
also Kaptain Kenny’s and Johnny’s Rental Hall. The building has undergone a
serious facelift to prepare for this upscale club experience. Odie’s will be open
Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. The club plans to open
for Sunday brunch in the near future.
The menu at Odie’s will have your mouth watering before you get in the door. On
tap are soups and salads, pasta, seafood and a selection of steaks and pork
chops. However, the signature entrée’s will be what sets Odie’s apart. On the
menu will be tempura battered pecan encrusted catfish with roasted fig and
apple honey BBQ sauce, shrimp and grits with tasso ham, rotisserie smoked
baby Cornish game hens smoked with cognac, honey and fresh herbs, beef
Wellington with mushroom bordelaise sauce and Doug’s specialty ribs.
Dinner will be served until 10:00 p.m. each evening. A late night menu will be
available for music fans and will include ribs and sliders.
The club will feature some kind of music every evening. Hot Springs piano
player Chuck Dodson will provide music in the lounge area of the club Tuesday
through Saturday from 5:00 until 10:00 pm. Dodson will also have guest singers
joining him during the week.
Thursday evenings Mike Dollins and the Cruize Brothers will host a weekly blues
jam starting at 9:00 pm in the main room.
The weekends at Odie’s will be chock full of some of the best blues music from
around the country. The club kicks off with The Bluebirds from Shreveport,
Louisiana, on April 10-11. Following the Bluebirds will be the Stella Vees from
Lexington, Kentucky (April 17-18), the Juvenators from Jackson, Mississippi
(April 24-25), the legendary Nighthawks (May 1-2), Eric Hughes Band from
Memphis (May 8-9), Charles Woods Band from Little Rock (May 15-16), NTO Band

Other bands set to roll into Odie’s over the summer are Bow Legged Rooster,
Hump Night Blues Band, Joe Pitts Band, Oreo Blue, Brethren and Zac Harmon.

Arkansas' Music Magazine featuring "The Blues"

About unknown legends artists
In January, 2005, David and Sherree Hughes decided to help a couple of musician
friends get some gigs. Little did we know what we were about to get into. What
started out as a small operation has slowly evolved into the Unknown Legends
Artists music talent agency. From two acts, we have grown ULA into a recognizable
agency with over a dozen regular artists and another dozen or so on top of that who
we try to assist.
How did it all start? Besides having friends who needed some help, we both have a
passion for live music. Whether its here at home or in another city, we are always
looking for a taste of the local musical flavors. Hot Springs had too many talented
musicians who were not being heard. We decided to try to help get their music out
to the public. The rest is all too quickly becoming history.
Unknown Legends Artists represents talent from all across Arkansas and from
several surrounding states. Our stable of talent is full of some of the best musicians
and entertainers in the country.
Unknown Legends Artists provides talent for night clubs, music festivals,
restaurants, private parties, corporate events, weddings and just about anything else
where entertainment is needed. The talent ranges from blues to country to classic
rock and everything in between. Regardless of what type of event it is, Unknown
Legends Artists has the talent to make it happen.
